When my husband was unemployed a counselor that attends our church provided sessions for "what we could afford" - there are medical clinics or ministries that will provide the physical care (perscription), and you can get the generic of a very popular anti-depressant at Wal-Mart for $4 per month. This sounds to me like get them professional help, but how do you do that when the depression stems from financial problems... we can't afford our bills let alone any psychiatric consults.
