Q&A: How can I encourage my husband to say, “I love you” more?

I would say you don’t start there. You start by finding out what his love language is and you start speaking his language: Such as Physical Touch, Quality Time, Giving gifts…whatever his language is. Focus on giving him heavy doses of his language. Then you can make a request of him and let him know what your love language is. When a person genuinely feels loved, they’re far more likely to respond to your request and speak your love language. Otherwise, you’re asking for something from him when he, perhaps, isn’t receiving love from you. So it’s always better to take the initiative to love and then you’re likely to get a positive response. The Bible says we love God because He first loved us.
