When someone wrongs you, what do you do? Stop speaking to the person until he or she apologizes? Ignore what happened and move on? Or lovingly confront the person with my feelings of hurt or anger?
The biblical pattern is to confront. In Luke chapter 17, Jesus said, that if your brother offends you, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him.
Clearly you are not to let hurt and anger fester in your hearts. You are to take constructive action by confronting the person. Always, your desire is that they will repent and we can forgive. If they don’t repent, you pray and then confront again. If they are unwilling to admit their wrong, you release them to God. Never seek revenge. That is God’s responsibility.
