A Valentine’s Precursor!

In last week’s broadcast Gary and the Fabry’s discuss some great ideas for what you can do to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We also heard from last year’s Valentine’s Day Contest winner, Megan, and her husband Chris.

Michael Catt, executive producer of the film Fireproof, discussed the effect that he has seen the movie have and the value of the Love Dare, a book born out of the film.

My husband and I went to see Fireproof with a group from our church the second day it was in the theatres. It was the best movie I think I have ever seen. I believe there was not a dry eye in the entire theatre. I know my husband tried to hide the fact that he was crying but he was and later he admitted it. :o ) We went to the movie the same way we went to a Marriage Conference in Baltimore last spring with Dr. Chapman – thinking our marriage was pretty good and their wasn’t much we could personally improve on. HAH! The movie brought to light several different underlying things we had both been ignoring and it opened up a dialogue for days and we began working on the little things that left untreated can ruin a marriage. One of my best friends asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year and I said the Fireproof DVD. The DVD wasn’t out yet but they had a way to preorder it and she got it for me. I plan to watch this movie several times a year with my husband.

It was a great movie and really made us think. I would love to see it several more times so we could take notes for discussion. Our married son and his wife saw it first and highly recommended. Wonder what would happen if WHOLE CHURCHES would commit to the 40 day love dare?

I had bought it preorder and we watched it for Vday. It was great! There were many issues that my husband and I have also and are stuggling with. I can’t wait to get through the rest of the special features also. I would like to do the study guide together also, but am holding off, I would like for him to suggest it.

Happy to find your blog from the comment you left on Laced with Grace. I referenced your Five Love Languages book in a blog post. Wishing you God’s best!

I truly believe that Fireproof is one tool that God will continue to use to help marriages. When I first saw the movie, I was so blessed, so was my husband. We went back home and discussed it. The movie for me made a deeper connection with how husbands and wives should step up to their roles in the marriage relationship. I became more aware of my own actions (of course still learning and maturing), instead of focusing on what I think my husband should do or not do. My husband and I are currently leading a small group using the Fireproof small group materials. We just completed our 2nd meeting on last night, and it just keeps getting better. Not only are the participants being blessed, but we are as well like I knew we would be. May God continue to bless Sherwood Baptist Church, Michael Catt, and every single person and business that played a role in the production of Fireproof. Many lives will be touched and saved as a result of their obedience to God.
